Welcome to the SEBA website!

SEBA promotes an open and diverse international biogeographical community by assisting in sharing biogeographical information. Enhancing communication between biogeographers of all countries, SEBA contributes to the development of the theory and practice of Systematic and Evolutionary Biogeography.

SEBA is home to the International Code of Area Nomenclature (ICAN), a standardised system of biogeographical reference.

If you are interested in implementing, maintaining or discussing the International Code of Area Nomenclature you are encouraged to join and contribute to SEBA. You can also access the Biogeography Portal through this site.

Biogeography Portal

The aim of an electronic portal is to provide students, postdocs, researchers and teachers of biogeography access to a worldwide biogeographical community.

The Portal is designed to:

    1. Start discussion on all matter of biogeographical topics or simply post ideas.

    2. Help disseminate information (pdf reprints, programs, websites, conference and book news, etc.).

    3. For students to post questions or queries concerning biogeography.

    4. To give non-English speaking subscribers a chance to call upon their English-speaking colleagues to help improve manuscripts destined for submission.

The Portal will not tolerate any form of ‘flaming’ or ‘party-line’ bullying. All biogeographers are entitled to have their own ideas and beliefs. Gentle persuasion and enthusiastic, heated debate are encouraged. Most importantly we hope that students join in debates or simply question ideas.

To join the Biogeography Portal please subscribe online by clicking here.
